Below are some of the things from the past week that I’ve come across and felt were worth sharing. Today is Palm Sunday. For those who celebrate, I wish you a blessed day.

What I’ve learned:
  • This week, I’m reading “How to Talk to Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere: The Secrets of Good Communication” by Larry KingWeekly Review - 2020-04-05. It’s an older book but has great advice on conversing with people. He provides a number things to talk about to create small talk and advises to ask open-ended questions. It may seem like common sense to not ask yes/no or one word answer questions, but you’d be surprised how often people do just that. It’s definitely worth a read – especially if you struggle with conversing.
  • I came across “6 Habits of Super Learners” which was a quick and interesting read. The article has some good tips such as reading a lot and teaching what you’ve learned. I’ve always felt that the best way to learn something is to teach it.
  • I’m a huge fan of “The Office” so I enjoyed this article about “10 Things ‘The Office’ Taught Us About Managing People.” Michael Scott was an interesting leader. He believed in his people, but frequently embarrassed them. It’s well worth a read if you’ve enjoyed the show (and useful even if you’ve never seen it).

What I’ve written:

What I’ve found:
  • I saw that General Hospital might run out of episodes due to COVID-19 slowing down filming. So I did some research on the show and learned that it’s been on for over 50 years. I can’t imagine how the writers have been able to come up with that much material as a it’s daily soap. I never watched it but remember the show’s intro from when I was a kid with the ambulance racing towards the hospital. It was probably on right after a cartoon I liked. You see that intro (it’s the third one) along with every other one in this video compilation.

Quote(s) of the week:

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”- Martin Luther King

Joke of the week:

“Judge, 60% of my parking tickets are bogus!”

Judge: Repeat infractions?

Man: Fine. 3/5 of my tickets are bogus!

And a bonus for those of you who are still getting used to working from home:

Conference Call Bingo

I’ll be publishing this list each week on my blog, Facebook, LinkedIn and via my email list. Please feel free to share this with anyone who might find this helpful. You can also click one of the buttons below to share to your favorite social media service.
