Weekly Review - 2020-06-21

Here are some of the things from the past week that I’ve come across and felt were worth sharing. As always, feel free to leave a comment on the blog or on social media if you’d like to add to the discussion. And if you like what’s in here, please use one or more of those buttons at the bottom of the post to share with friends.

Today is Father’s Day. I hope all the dads (and single moms doing double duty) had a great day today!

What I’ve learned:
  • I’m getting deeper into Cash Copy By Jeffrey LantWeekly Review - 2020-06-21 and learning a lot (I read 70-100 pages per week). There are some very good examples of bad marketing copy, where the focus is on the features of the product or the resume of the seller. Examples of better written copy then follows. It’s worth a read.
  • I’m finding that the more you push yourself, the more you can achieve. I take daily notes on what I accomplish and I’m seeing a substantial increase in output over the past 90 days. This is due to each day, I try to push myself a little more. It’s as simple as doing one more set, one more minute walking or getting one more task done before calling it a day. When you get into the mindset of pushing yourself, you’ll see results over time. It won’t happen overnight, but you’ll see it within a month or two.

What I’ve written:

Cool / Interesting / Retro Stuff:
    • Before Tums & Rolaids, my family used Brioschi for upset stomachs. It’s an Italian antacid that’s lemon flavored – I used to eat it like candy when I was a kid. Anyway, it came up in conversation so I ordered some from Amazon. I’ll do a review once I get it and try it.
    • I loved watching The Fall Guy as a kid. Lee Majors plays Colt Stevens – a stuntman and bounty hunter. The show has a great theme song and fun intro, which you can watch below. What jogged my memory was watching a movie with Heather Thomas, whom I was infatuated with as a kid. She played a stunt woman in the show and she’s the one in the bikini in the screenshot below.
    • I wrote a post in April that included some search and finds. These are fun to share on social media and provide fun interactions with your friends. I came across the below one that you’re welcome to share with your friends.

Quote(s) of the week:

“The test is not a complex one: when the alarm goes off, do you get up out of bed, or do you lie there in comfort and fall back to sleep? If you have the discipline to get out of bed, you win—you pass the test. If you are mentally weak for that moment and you let that weakness keep you in bed, you fail. Though it seems small, that weakness translates to more significant decisions. But if you exercise discipline, that too translates to more substantial elements of your life.”

Joke of the week:

I couldn’t follow the storyline of Stephen King’s “It”

Too many Maine characters.
