An excellent post. There always are people who will try to sell you both their solution and a problem. This month I started my blog with a post about if there really is a pandemic of public speaking fear. 

If you look up Listerine on Wikipedia you will find a discussion of how they invented chronic halitosis back in 1921. In his 1942 book, Generation of Vipers, Phillip Wylie ranted that ads for products aimed at women all really had the unspoken question: “Madam, are you a good lay?”
