Hannah Montana Takes “Racy” Photos

For some bizarre reason, Hannah Montana star, Miley Cyrus, decided to take some suggestive pictures of herself and post them on the web. Although the photos are far from explicit, they not something you’d expect a 15 year old who is on top of the world to do – I don’t have a link to the photos but you can easily find them using the search box on the right.

I know many child stars feel the need to shed their images when they’re ready to transition to adult roles, but there has to be a better way than using their sexuality:

• Elizabeth Berkley from Saved by Bell stared in the NC-17 film Showgirls which many say killed her career.
• Charlotte Church, who at 13 had a voice that rivaled Sarah Brightman, choose to emulate the sexuality of Brittany Spears.
• Princess Diaries star Anne Hathaway felt the need to do a nude scene in Brokeback Mountain.

My question is why not do the mature thing when you want to come across as a grown-up? Provide a performance that is worthy of the industry’s top award. Raise awareness for a charity or important cause. Become a mentor and positive role model to a child star that’s starting out.

It’s too bad that success in the entertainment industry doesn’t require good judgement.
