Self-help guru Tony Robbins issues an interesting challenge in his Personal Power Program. He recommends that you ask yourself five questions to motivate you each morning for the next 10 days or so, and these questions are supposed to get you started on a positive note.
We may not realize it (I know I didn’t at first), but we have a lot of thoughts when we first wake up each day and these thoughts can impact our entire day. Let’s say you wake up and the first thing you think is “I wonder how traffic will be today” or “I bet the train will run late today.” You’ll probably move slowly while you’re starting to wake up and then as the time for you to head out the door approaches, you’ll start rushing. You might forget to do something or take something with you. You’ll greet those around with you with a frown, and the pattern continues.
Instead, try taking a more positive approach when you wake up. Ask yourself about what you’re thankful for, the opportunities you’ll have during the day or what exciting things you have to look forward to. You start off with the right attitude and the people around you will react more positively towards you – a much better pattern.
Tomorrow morning, try asking yourself these questions and note the changes in your day. You might be surprised at the results.
